News about Zilpha (mnu probably Blakely) Eddins/Edins

Hi there. Yes, I'm still here. Just haven't had much to report for a few years.

But now—here's an update on Zilpha/Zylpha/Silvia, thanks to Family Search's new full text feature:

Drum roll, please...

Zilpha married (2) David Winchell some time between 1816 and 1818 in Lexington County, SC. 

How do we know? Here's the proof:

In 1816 Zilpha created a document giving her sons William D. and James A. Eddins/Edins rights to a certain plat of land after she died in return for their care of her up till then. You'll find a transcript of that document here:

So there's the 1816 date. 

What about the 1818 date?

In 1818 Zilpha was convicted of selling liquor without a license, as proven by this original document which calls her "Zilpha Winchell, otherwise known as Zilpha Eddins."

If only the marriage license were available! Oh well, at least we now have this further bit of data.
